Growing up on Georgia's coast, the water was simply a way of life.

Whether he was fishing with his dad, spending afternoons at the local sandbar with friends, or exploring the rivers of Southeast Georgia, Rocky developed a love for boating at an early age.  That passion naturally led him to the marine industry.

While still in high school, Rocky accepted a part-time job at Ellis Marine in Brunswick, Georgia. What started with rigging boats quickly turned into something much bigger. Under the mentorship of owner Bobby Ellis, he learned the fundamentals of marine service and discovered that repairing boats was more than just a job—it was a career.

A Lifetime Around Boats

Building a Career

Wanting to expand his knowledge, Rocky attended North Georgia Technical College, where he earned his Yamaha Outboard Marine Certification. He graduated first in his class and achieved the highest overall score ever recorded in the program.

After returning home to Brunswick, Rocky worked in the marine industry but eventually felt it was time to explore other opportunities. For several years he worked alongside his father in the construction business before returning to Ellis Marine.

He later spent five years working as a conductor for CSX Transportation, gaining valuable experience while continuing to build the strong work ethic that defines him today.

Although he appreciated the opportunity, the marine industry had always been where his heart was. In 2014, Rocky returned to Ellis Marine, where he continued advancing his technical skills.

Soon afterward, he traveled to Atlanta to complete the training required to become a Certified Master Yamaha Technician, one of the highest levels of Yamaha factory certification.

The Beginning of Pisces Marine

In 2016, Rocky took the leap and founded Pisces Marine.

His goal was simple: provide honest diagnostics, dependable repairs, and personal service without the overhead and impersonal experience of many large dealerships.

Pisces Marine first operated from a rented shop in Brunswick. As the business grew, however, the rising costs made it more practical to relocate the shop to its current home-based location. That decision allowed Rocky to focus on what mattered most—providing quality work at fair prices.

Every customer works directly with Rocky - technician performing the repairs. There are no middlemen, no service writers, and no guesswork—just honest communication and quality workmanship.

While Rocky's Yamaha Master Technician certification has since lapsed, the years of factory training and decades of hands-on experience continue to guide every repair that comes through the shop.

More Than a Business—A Passion

Over the years, he owned several performance race boats, enjoying the excitement and challenge that came with competitive boating. As anyone in the racing world knows, however, high-performance boats are expensive to own and maintain.

Before long, fellow racers began asking Rocky to work on their own boats.

What started as helping friends quickly grew into something much bigger.

Today, racers from across the Southeast—including competitors in the Southern Outboard Dragboat Association (SODA)—bring their boats to Rocky for repairs, electrical work, rigging, and performance modifications.

That side of the business has grown enough to earn its own identity: Rocky's Speed Shop.

While Pisces Marine continues to focus on dependable repair and maintenance for recreational boaters, Rocky's Speed Shop showcases his passion for performance boating, racing, custom rigging, and high-performance marine projects.
